Grazie CASTELLI Cycling, SIDI Sport e RUDY Project.
SECOND PLACE AT THE ASIAN GAMES: A DREAM COME TRUE
On 22 September, Fariba Hashimi made a dream come true, winning the silver medal in the women’s road race at the Asian Games in Japan.
The result has an even deeper meaning when we consider the journey she has taken to get there. As she said herself after the race: “I cannot explain my emotions right now.”
And “I was born in a country where women who dream are attacked, and I am really happy that I fought against all of this. I hope that the next generation will be able to compete at the Asian Games and represent their country without fear.”
This medal is much more than a sporting achievement: it is a symbol of empowerment, emancipation and freedom, and a message to all the women around the world who still do not have the opportunity to practise sport and pursue their dreams.
Alongside Fariba, Yuldoz Hashimi and Zahra Rezayee also competed in the Asian Games road race, sharing this extraordinary experience with her and contributing, through their teamwork, to the achievement of the silver medal.
Road To Equality is proud to have accompanied these girls over the past five years, supporting them in their sporting, personal and social development. Behind this achievement there is also the daily work of the people who make up Road To Equality: people who, in different countries, support the athletes, accompany them throughout their journey, create opportunities, overcome challenges and work every day to enable them to continue training, competing and building their future through sport.
Seeing them now compete at the Asian Games and reach this level is a source of enormous pride for all of us.
We would also like to thank all the people, associations, institutions, municipalities and companies who have believed in the Road To Equality project over these past five years and have chosen to support it.
A special thank you goes to our sponsors, who have supported our work and helped create concrete opportunities for these athletes.
Thank you CASTELLI Cycling, SIDI Sport and RUDY Project.
